The Siyom is the last major tributary of the Siang flowing in from the west via Along. It is a small river by the standards of Arunachal Pradesh but offers kayaking to suit anyone's palate. There is 3 days of easy class II-III paddling down from Yiyu to Along and much harder sections in the upper reaches deep canyons.

Mechuka on the top of the valley is a frontier town with Buddhist people and two monasteries. The upper section of the Siyom is a very serious undertaking while the lower section makes for a chilled out scenic family trip along numerous villages. The water of the Siyom is very clear with an abundance of fish. The valley is inhabited by Adi
Tribesmen and the houses are most spectacular.

The Siyom has a dam project a few kilometers above Kaying but not a problem for paddlers as yet.
